Mid-State Wine Ropes in more medals in 2011 rodeo

Houston, Texas (November 12-13, 2011)- Mid-State Wine & Liquors a boutique distributor based in Houston, Texas has a portfolio of wines worthy of toasting.  The proof was in the glass as Mid-State roped in 35 medals AGAIN out of 56 wine entries at the 2011 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition on November 12-13, 2011.  Medals won included FOUR Reserve Champion, TWO class champions and ONE class region champion from France. .

This years annual “Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo” International Wine Competition included over 2400 entries from about 600+ wineries and 20+ countries.  Judges tasted through the wines blindfolded in search of the Grand Champion.  Winning winners will be giving their Buckles, chaps and Saddles during the Rodeo Uncorked! Roundup and Best Bites Competition held on February 19, 2012.  Wines will be poured with like cuisine for more than 4,000 food and wine enthusiast to indulge on, as medals, chaps and buckles are awarded to the winning Mid-State and other wineries medal Champions.

In celebration of its great accomplishment, Mid-State is hosting a private tasting where they will showcase all of their 35 winning wines, including the reserve and class champions during March.  Please visit our web site www.mid-statewine.com for the upcoming event date.  Wines will be paired with tasty bites that complement each of them.  The event is to be held in Houston, Texas in March 2012.   Invited guest will have the opportunity to purchase the wines for a special price during the celebration.   “It was very satisfactory to know that we again won 35 medals this year in such a prestigious international wine competition,” said Leon Sierra, owner of Mid-State wine.  “They are all winners, but for this venue I picked the vintages that offer the best value and represent the worldly selection of my portfolio.”

Guest will be treated to wines such as Senor Sierra de Alicante, Evohe out of Aragon and Bodegas Lan out of Rioja Spain,  Medrano Estate, Tierra Brisa and La Boca out of Argentina, Naked Earth (100% Organic ), Pierre Chainier sparkling Brut and Les Hospices Sancerre out of France, Mission State out of Hawks Bay and Rippon wines out of Central Otago, Quail Ridge and Napa landing out of Napa Valley, Oak Vineyards out of Sonoma, Carmenet wines out California, Haraszthy Zinfandel out of Lodi, , Barnard Griffin out of Columbia Valley, and Wilson Creek Almond Champagne, Mimosa and Bellini natural added flavored sparkling out of Temecula California.  The five champions include Oak Vineyards white Zinfandel, Wilson Creek Almond Champagne, Wilson Creek Mimosa, Naked Earth white Blend and Medrano Torrontes out of Mendoza. .

Mid-State wines came into the competition with 56 wines and came out with 35 medals including 4 Reserve and 2 Class Champions.  Mid-States portfolio includes wines from around the world.  Wines are hand selected and only introduced in the market place after their experienced panel of winologist approves them for distribution.   “I only give my customers the best of the best,” said Sierra, “my portfolio is a reflection of what I believe and love and I don’t want to tarnish it by introducing wines that are not of the highest standards.”
